The Boesmanskloof hiking trail between Greyton and McGregor
The Boesmanskloof trail

Hike Greyton to McGregor

One of the Cape's classic mountain walks, and we are right on it.

The walk between two villages

The Boesmanskloof trail crosses the Riviersonderend mountains to link the twin villages of Greyton and McGregor. It is a there-and-back or a village-to-village walk through fynbos and rock, with the swimming spots at Oakes Falls roughly halfway, where many hikers stop to cool off in the pools.

Because Boesmanskloof sits on the trail, you do not have to choose between the hike and a comfortable bed. Walk in, swim in the rock pools, and have your cottage or the house waiting at the top.

Swim in the rock pools

Oakes Falls is the highlight of the trail: a series of clear pools tucked into the rock, perfect for a swim on a warm day. From Boesmanskloof you can reach the falls and the Gobos River rock pools on foot, then be back at your cottage by evening.
